1) Display the frequency you want to search.
2) Press the MON/F key then the tone key [number 8].
3) Select the type of tone you wish to search for, [with the MAIN or SUB button] TONE  SQL, or DCS.
4) Rotate the larger dial to either TONE SET (example 67.0 Hz) or DCS SET (example 023), that will depend on which tone you want to search for first.
5) Press the BAND button and there will be a blinking line under the number.
6) Press the MON/F key and then SCAN [number 1]
  
At this point it will start searching, make sure you have the volume set to normal listening level for you. You will not hear anything until the correct tone is scanned, (you will hear the conversation) at this point press the BAND button to prevent it from continuing to scan. Then press and hold the BAND button until the blinking line disappears. Then press the PTT button and you at back to your normal display.
  
IMPORTANT!!
  
If you wish to keep the work that you have just done, you will need to save it to the channel you wish, IF you don't, the moment you change to a different channel you just lost what you found.
