Subject: Using the ADMS-1E cable with the VX-7 Date: Jan. 16, 2005 I have a new VX-7R and I'm trying to use my old ADMS-1E cable from my VX-5 days with VX-7 Commander. The same cable minus the 3 to 4 pin adapter cable works OK with my FT-7800 so I don't suspect the cable. The cabletest program also says it's OK. I also tried it on a different computer in case that might be a problem. I don't have any luck reading or writing to my VX-7 and I was wondering if, perhaps, the plug is not making proper contact. I found a folder in the Files section under Pictures and VX7 with ADMS-1 cables and it shows a "ground down" plug which makes me think that may be my solution. I've been through the Archives looking for documentation for this "grinding down" process but I'm not finding anything. Has anyone had a simular problem and is the grinding down process connected with the solution? I really did try to do my homework before asking but I came up empty. Can anyone offer some help?
